Following an opening round score of eight over par 79, Tiger Woods posted a second round score of six over par 77 to miss the cut by 14 strokes at The 2024 Open Championship. Despite a poor showing that led him to leave Scotland early, the event marked the first time that the golf legend has competed in all major championships in a year since 2019.

A near-fatal car crash in 2021 caused Woods to be taken out of the game for almost three years due to severe injuries. However, he underwent a subtalar fusion surgery on his right leg after trying conventional approaches to heal the injuries. After a long and intensive rehab and recovery process, the 15-time major championship winner is back playing golf regularly.

With three missed cuts in four majors, Tiger Woods has been far from his best this year. Former PGA Tour player Drew Stoltz spoke about the former world number one's performances this season. He said (via GOLF's Subpar from 13:00-14:00):

"It's like, dude, at this point just, I don't care how big of a fan you are of Tiger [Woods]. Like I want him to play well more than anybody. But if he plays well, its like a surprise at this point. He plays four times a year."

Stoltz also went on to claim that a major reason for Woods' struggles on the PGA Tour is beacuse "his body feels like trash". Following his poor showings this year, fans worldwide feel that the golf legend is beyond his prime. Calls for him to retire are flooding social media.
