Tiger Woods has had the most illustrious career. He has 15 major championships and 82 PGA Tour victories. The American golfer enjoys a massive fan base around the globe. Fans love to take pictures and get autographs. It is sometimes hard for the players to deal with the crowd.
Tiger Woods has been playing since late 1990s, and over the years, things have changed drastically. In one of his interviews with Time on his 40th birthday, Woods spoke about how he dealt with the changes and fans, especially in crowded places.
"Get me in the right environment and I can be myself", said Tiger Woods. "But if we go to a crowded place, and now everybody has their camera phones out, everybody wants a picture or an autograph—well, it’s hard to be myself when we have a crowd of people over us."
He elaborated:
" You want to just hang out with me, but you can’t hang out. You can’t get a word in. Now the table’s crowded all around us. You’re having your dinner, well, you can’t—people are reaching over you to get to me. Now, is that fun?"
He further revealed that he always has security with his kids.
"We normally have security with us for the kids. It’s just for the kids."
Tiger Woods shares two kids with his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren: Charlie and Sam. His son is also into golf and plays at the junior level.
Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods played together in the PNC Championship that took place in December 2022 and finished in T8. It was their third consecutive appearance at the tournament.
"Daddy made some mistakes" - Tiger Woods told his children about his missteps
Tiger Woods was caught cheating on his wife. The couple split up, but they still share joint custody of their kids, even though they don't live under the same roof. Woods is on good terms with his kids' mother.
Speaking in an interview, he said:
"As years and years have gone by, we’re like best friends. It’s fun. She talks to me about her life, I talk to her about my life. We try and help each other out on all occasions. And we work through it with the kids, the parenting program. She is one of my best friends now, and it’s all because of my kids."
He went on to say:
"We’ve worked so hard, and I’ve shown her how much I love them. We’ve worked so hard at co-parenting, to make sure that their lives are fantastic. For instance, I’ve told her this, I’ve taken the initiative with the kids, and told them up front, “Guys, the reason why we’re not in the same house, why we don’t live under the same roof, Mommy and Daddy, is because Daddy made some mistakes.” I just want them to understand before they get to Internet age and they log on to something or have their friends tell them something."
Tiger Woods shares a very strong bond with his son, Charlie Woods. They are almost carbon copies of each other.
