Tiger Woods had an incredible career as an amateur golfer and went on to become one of the sport's greatest legends. The 15-time major winner created history by becoming the only player to win the US Junior Amateur three times from 1991 to 1993 - a feat that is yet to be broken.

He followed up the three straight victories by winning the US Amateur three times from 1994 to 1996. The final win at the event made Woods the first golfer to win both the Junior Amateur and the Amateur titles. Having made his amateur debut at the 1992 Nissan Los Angeles Open, he went on to play in 16 professional tournaments as an amateur to set himself up for his professional career.

As the amateur format ran on match play, Tiger Woods had an impeccable record with 36 straight wins, which was unfortunately interrupted by three losses. With a USGA match play record of 42 wins and 3 losses, here's what Woods had to say regarding his experience:

"To qualify for the Amateur I had to either play the 36 hole qualifier or win the Juniors. I qualified for the Amateur by winning the Juniors. If you look at it only through that lens, 36 straight matches I won. That is something that I am very proud of. It's not easy to do, trust me. ... Anything can happen in match play. To me it shows the doggedness of willing to fight for each and every shot," Woods said (via USGA).
