Jeev Milkha Singh fired a brilliant 8-under-par 62 taking him to the top position in the ongoing second round of the US$300,000 Thailand Open on Friday.
The veteran, who opened his campaign with a round of 71, carded eight birdies in the second round to match the efforts of Keith Horne (67) and Jazz Janewattananond (67) to go into the halfway stage at 8-under-par 134 at the Thai Country Club.
Yesterday, the leaderboard was dominated by home players but things changed today when Jeev played a brilliant Round 2.
Singapore’s Mitchel carded a 66, trailing the trio by one to put himself in contention at the flagship event, which returned to the Asian Tour this week following an eight-year gap.
Meanwhile, Order of Merit Champion Scott Hend of Australia carded a 67 to move within the three shots off the lead while his playing partners for the day, Gavin Green (66) and Shiv Kapur (67) stayed further shot back on 137.
