Professional golfer J.J. Spaun was born in Los Angeles, California, on August 21, 1990. Spaun turned professional in 2012 and earned his first professional win at the 2013 Gateway Tour National Series 7. Moving on, he went to PGA Tour Canada Q School in 2014 and had his first win on the tour at the 2015 Staal Foundation Open.

Spaun established the record for the highest single-season earnings on the PGA Tour Canada with two tournaments left in the 2015 season. As the winner of the PGA Tour Canada Order of Merit, Spaun qualified for the Web.com Tour with full exempt status in 2016.

After winning the News Sentinel Open, Spaun secured his spot on the PGA Tour for 2017. However, his first PGA Tour win came at the 2022 Valero Texas Open, which was five seasons and 147 starts later.

In the 2023 season, he played in 26 events, making cuts in 19 of them. Regardless, he didn't win any, but had a few top-10 performances, like finishing tied for ninth at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play and tied for sixth place at the ZOZO Championship.

As of March 2024, he played in six events, making the cut in one, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he finished tied for 54th place with a score of 212 under 4.
