John Daly is an American professional golfer born on April 28, 1966, in Carmichael, California. He attended Helias High School in Jefferson City, Missouri, and was a junior golf member at the Jefferson City Country Club. Daly continued his education at the University of Arkansas from 1984 to 1987 on a golf scholarship. He left college without completing his degree and turned professional in the summer of 1987, eventually joining the PGA Tour in 1991.

In his first season on the PGA Tour, the California native won the PGA Championship and was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. In 2002, he achieved two top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour and was inducted into the Arkansas Golf Hall of Fame. Daly's career saw a resurgence in 2004 when he was named PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year and won the Buick Invitational. On April 28, 2016, John Daly turned 50, becoming eligible for the PGA Tour Champions. He made his debut at the Insperity Invitational in May 2016 and claimed his first victory as a PGA Tour Champion the following at the same event.
