Karan Taunk wins the Tata Steel Western India Open

Karan Taunk of Jamshedpur has won the Tata Steel Western India Open. The game, which concluded at the par-71 Poona Club Golf Course, on Friday, saw the lead changing hands thrice in four days. The 24-year-old golfer finished the tournament four shots ahead of overnight leader, Samarth Dwivedi, with a level par-284.

“I dedicate this victory to my parents, who have always been supportive,” said Karan.

Syed Saqib Ahmed, of Bangalore, finished third in the tournament with final round of 70 and a total of 290. Viraj Madappa of Kolkata and Bangalore’s Trishul Chinnappa had to share the fourth place at 291.

Manu gandas finished off sixth at 293 while Vikram Rana, who was leading the game on first two days, ended up seventh at 294. Both Manav Das and Amul Waghmare shared the eighth place at 295.
