Lydia Ko’s Clubs
Lydia Ko’s Driver
Lydia Ko, who was once under contract with PXG, alternated between Titleist and PXG driver models, including the TSi3 and TSR3. But these days, Ko relies on Ping to use the G430 LST driver as of March 2024.
She is equipped with a Mitsubishi Diamana GT 50 S flex shaft and has this in the 10.5-degree head. The ball speed and aggressive spin figures during testing of the G430 LST left Golf Monthly thoroughly impressed; it is without a doubt one of the greatest drivers available.
Lydia Ko’s Fairways
Ko uses a Ping G430 Max for his 3 and 5 wood into the fairway woods. In terms of loft, these are rather conventional at 15 and 18 degrees, respectively.
She uses the Diamana PD 60 in her 3-wood and the Diamana GT 60 in her 5-wood, putting her trust in Mitsubishi once more for her wood shafts. These two are S-flex, and during testing, Golf Monthly discovered that the G430 Max fairway was incredibly easy to launch and forgiving.
Lydia Ko’s Hybrid
Ko chooses the Ping G430, one of the greatest hybrids, to fill the gap between her fairway woods and irons. She uses a Graphite Design Tour AD HY 65 S flex shaft on his 22-degree head to get the proper yardage increments.
Lydia Ko’s Irons
Ko uses a combo set in her irons and begins with the Ping i230 irons in her 5, 6, and 7 irons at the top of the bag and goes into the Ping Blueprint S in her 8 and 9 irons. In short irons, this is typically done to prioritize feel and control while adding a bit more pop and launch at the top of the bag.
She uses the AeroTech SteelFiber FC 70-gram shaft, one of the most widely used graphite iron shafts on men's and women's professional tours.
Lydia Ko’s Wedges
Ko uses her short game demands with four Titleist Vokey SM9 wedges. She has 48-10F (bent to 49 degrees), 54-10F, and 58-08F (bent to 59 degrees). Her preference for the same basic F grind in all of her wedges is a little out of the ordinary, as many players seem to like the versatility of some sole camber in their more lofted wedges, like an M or L grind.
In the 46, 48, and 54-degree wedges, Bob Vokey's wedges are equipped with the AeroTech SteelFiber FC 70-gram shaft; in her most lofted wedge, she uses a slightly heavier version of the same shaft.
Lydia Ko’s Putter
In recent years, Ko's putter status has undergone significant change. She had used a PXG Blackjack model for some time before transferring to a Thunderbolt C model and a prototype known as the Thunderbolt.
She also had a Ping Ketsch center-shafted model in her bag for a while, but now it looks like she recently switched to a prototype model called the TG6, designed specifically for Scotty Cameron tours.
Lydia Ko’s Golf Ball
One of the most popular golf balls in the professional game is the Titleist Pro V1x, which Lydia Ko uses. The Pro V1x, a ball that Golf Monthly gave five stars for, is a great all-arounder, and they were especially pleased with the longer ball flight, which didn't compromise feel or control in the short game.
Lydia Ko’s Grips
There is no information available about the grips that Lydia Ko uses.
Lydia Ko’s Driver Swing Speed
At 94 mph, Lydia Ko's driver's swing speed is roughly 9% slower than the fastest on the LPGA Tour and falls in the middle of the usual range.
Her swing is a perfect example of David Leadbetter's A-Swing technique, which involves raising the club nearly straight up on the backswing and lowering it to the inside on the downswing to increase distance and speed.
