Professional golfer Lydia Ko was born in Seoul, South Korea, on April 24, 1997. In 2013, at the age of 16, she began her professional career. A prodigy considered by many to be the youngest professional golfer ever, male or female, to be world No. 1 at the mere age of 17 in 2015.
As of March 2024, she has already won 28 professional wins, two majors, and several top-5s and top-10s. In early 2013, she won two LPGA events, making her the only amateur to do so.
Ko broke several of the “younger” records, meaning she is the youngest to achieve any of the achievements in women's golf. To add more to her achievements, she is on the LPGA board as Player Director. She also made the 2014 and 2015 lists of Time magazine's 100 most influential people and was inducted into the New Zealand Order of Merit.
After winning three titles in 2022 and a barren 2023 season, she most recently won the 2024 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions against Alexa Pano by a margin of two strokes and a score of 274, under 14.
