Lydia Ko is a professional golfer from New Zealand. She was born on April 24, 1997, and is known around the world for her historic achievements by the age of 27! By the age of 17, she was already a well-known name as she was the youngest golfer ever to reach the number 1 position in the Women's World Golf Rankings. Her early career as an amateur is as decorated with records and tournament wins as her professional career. She was already the youngest to win an LPGA Tour event at the age of 15 and the youngest woman ever to secure a major championship in the LPGA Tournament circuit.

Outside of the greens, too, she has been highly honoured and loved. She was honoured by Time Magazine and ESPN and was named the Young New Zealander back in 2016. at the same time, she received the New Zealand Order of Merit; she did it all before she even turned 20! In 2022, she won the CME Group Tour Championship and earned several accolades, which helped her retain her top spot!

She won a silver medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and a bronze in Tokyo in 2020! Ko, who was just 19 years old, finished five shots behind gold champion Inbee Park but ahead of a crowded field of gifted golfers vying for medals. Ko even had a hole-in-one in her last round in Rio!

Moving on to the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, Ko managed to secure the bronze after a thrilling final day and faced golf's one of the greatest champions, Nelly Korda and Mone Inami. She finished with a 70, 67, 66, and 65, and a 16-under par, which resulted in Inami and her tying for second. Despite the competition's demanding standards, Ko's sportsmanship stood out; Ko challenged Inami to a play-off for the silver.
