Two-time major champion Martin Kaymer was born in Dusseldorf, Germany and began playing golf with his brother and father. He won his first amateur golf title at the 2003 Austrian Amateur Open Championship and turned professional two years later, in 2005. He played on the EPD Tour, which is a developmental league, winning six professional wins.

From the EPD tour, he went to the Challenge Tour and finally earned his European Tour card for the 2007 season. The 2008 Abu Dhabi Golf Championship was his first European Tour win by four strokes against Henrik Stenson and Lee Westwood. He won a few more events, but the 2010 season was his breakthrough season, when he won his first major, the PGA Championship.

After this, he kept on winning, including the 2011 WGC-HSBC Champions; he also reached world No. 1 that same year and held that for three weeks. Among his total of 23 professional wins, he has won the 2014 US Open and the 2014 Players Championship. The 2014 season was his most recent winning season, when he won the PGA Grand Slam of Golf against two-time Masters Tournament champion Bubba Watson.

Kaymer joined LIV Golf in 2022 as the caption of Cleeks GC, though he hasn't won there as of May 2024 and has played at the 2024 PGA Championship, where he finished tied for 73rd. His OWGR is No. 1604, as of May 2024.

Who is Martin Kaymer’s caddie?

Martin Kaymer’s caddie is Craig Connelly as of May 2024.

Connelly has been caddying for 28 years as of May 2024 and is the long-time caddie for Martin Kaymer, though he has also caddied for golfers like Paul Casey and Myra McKinley; however, he has often been in an on-and-off relationship with his employers. Connelly was born in 1978 and has been caddying since the age of 18 on the LPGA Tour in 1996.

He departed from Casey three times and from Kaymer two times (in 2011 and 2018). Connelly says that it's on them, as the player is the primary and it's their call to take. In 2018, after a dismal run of play that has seen Kaymer drop to 146th in the world rankings, Connelly disclosed in a text message to the online golf magazine, Bunkered, that they parted ways mutually. However, they reunited later.

Connelly told Golf Monthly in 2018 that it was not what he wanted to choose as a profession, but caddying just happened. On being asked about how to be a good caddie, at the same interview, he said, "I don’t know what makes a good caddie, but certainly what helps in caddying is being able to adapt to a player’s personality."
