The 2022 U.S. Open Champion, Matt Fitzpatrick, is an English golfer, born on September 1, 1994. At the age of 18, Fitzpatrick earned his first amateur win at the 2012 Boys Amateur Championship, followed by the 2013 U.S. Amateur win. He also finished as a low amateur at the 2013 Open Championship.

Fitzpatrick was ranked No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and was the recipient of the 2013 Mark H. McCormack Medal. The next season, he turned professional and qualified for the European Tour's 2015 season through Q School.
