Michael Block has won six professional wins at the Southern California section of the PGA of America Tour. He was born on June 15, 1976, in Reno, Nevada, in the United States. He participated in college golf competitions at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Mississippi State University, winning two amateur wins at the Southern Indiana Invitational and Owensboro Intercollegiate in 1996.

Block has won 10 Southern California PGA Player of the Year titles and is the most recent PGA Professional of the Year. He was one of 20 PGA professionals to secure a spot in the 2024 PGA Championship as a result of his T15 finish in 2023. At 46 years old, he finished in the top 20 of the 2023 PGA Championship, becoming the first club professional to accomplish this in nearly 40 years.

Block began his professional career in 1998 and progressed through the ranks at Lakes Country Club in Palm Desert, rising from assistant club professional to head club professional in just six years in 2004. By then, he had become a member of the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, California.

Michael Block’s Driver

Block uses the 2024 Qi10 TaylorMade driver with a loft angle of nine degrees set at 7.5 degrees and a Fujikura Ventus Black 6 X shaft. The Qi10 model is a remarkable all-around performer that combines the finest features from the Max and LS versions. Appealing to a wide range of golfers like Scottie Scheffler, Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy, Qi10 is very forgiving at spin level.

TaylorMade made it to maximize MOI without sacrificing ball speed. This has been made possible with a newly designed supporting structure and an upgraded 60X Carbon Twist Face, which both increase ball speed and face durability. However, as per Golf Monthly, its only drawback is that it does not have movable weights and has only loft adjustability.

Michael Block’s Fairways

Block uses two fairways, a three-wood TaylorMade Qi10 and a loft angle of 15 degrees set at 14.25 degrees with a Fujikura Ventus Blue 7 X shaft. Another five-wood TaylorMade M5 set at 19 degrees and a Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei CK Pro Orange 70X TX.

His driver and three-wood have the same model but different loft angles and shafts serving their purposes, but for a five-wood, he uses TaylorMade M5, which has a reputation for enhanced ball distance and speed, easy adjustment, and more forgiveness across a range of settings.

But there are a few drawbacks as well, like that gains are negligible over M3 and weights at the neutral location will function more effectively in the M6 version, as per Golf Monthly.

Michael Block’s Utility

Block uses the TaylorMade Stealth UDI as his utility because it gives flawless performance and encourages confidence behind the ball. The larger sweet spot and lower center of gravity make this club incredibly forgiving, yet it also sounds and feels fantastic at impact. It's a perfectly well-balanced club, as per Golf Monthly.

Michael Block’s Irons

Block, similar to some golf professionals, does not change his irons often, his choice for irons as of June 2024 is a TaylorMade Tour Preferred MC (2014 version) with Project X Steel shafts. The Tour Preferred MC irons are an all-around iron product with feel, workability, and stability because of their muscular cavity, which increases the moment of inertia.

The 3 and 7 irons (Block uses 5 and 9) are equipped with TaylorMade's Speed Pocket, which increases ball speed in the lowest part of the clubface and improves face consistency. The Tour Preferred MC's head, top line, and sole width are all marginally bigger than the Tour Preferred MB's.

Michael Block’s Wedges

Block uses four wedges: two TaylorMade MG3 with 46 standard bounce and 60-11TW and two TaylorMade MG with 52 and 56 degrees. The MG3 is a very high-spinning wedge with a soft, solid feel and plenty of versatility. It consistently produces a mid-flight across the loft range, giving players the control they desire. Lob wedges, however, have a bulbous appearance, and they develop a rusty face over time.

Milled grind (MG) wedges are modeled with superior surface milling procedures that guarantee exact score lines, leading edges, and sole geometry. As a result, every wedge has a perfectly engineered grind that results in the best possible turf interaction and reliable performance, as per TaylorMade.

Michael Block’s Putter

Block uses Odyssey's White Hot 2-Ball Putter, which was released back in 2008. Given that putters are the most crucial piece of equipment in a golfer's arsenal, they usually don't make many changes here as it suits them well.

The two white discs’ effect is enhanced by the original model's removal of the side wings, making it extra clear where the golfer is aiming. The deep head, which was a dream to line up, encourages a truer, earlier roll by producing less backspin at impact. The putter is a dream to line up, according to Golf Monthly, especially with the two white discs at the golfer's disposal.

Michael Block’s Golf Ball

Block uses Titleist Pro V1, a product of Titleist's latest design that sets new standards. It was the increased consistency in the long game that stood out, without significantly altering the attributes that have made the Pro V1 so popular. On the other hand, the Pro V1x might perform better for players with low spin.
