Michael Block is the most recent PGA Professional of the Year and a ten-time Southern California PGA Player of the Year. Due to his T15 finish in 2023, he was one of 20 PGA professionals to earn a spot in the 2024 PGA Championship. He finished in the Top 20 of the 2023 PGA Championship at the age of 46, becoming the first club professional to do so since 1986's 11th-place finisher Lonnie Neilsen.
Block was born in Reno, Nevada, in the United States, on June 15, 1976. He attended Parkway Central High School in Missouri and he started playing golf in his early teens. He later competed in college golf at Mississippi State University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. But it was at San Diego Golf Academy that he earned his degree in golf course management.
After turning pro in 1998, Block rose through the ranks at Palm Desert's Lakes Country Club, moving from assistant club professional to head club professional in just six years, in 2004. He had joined Mission Viejo, California's Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, by then.

Block’s first professional win was at the 2001 California State Open, followed by the 2014 PGA Professional National Championship and consecutive wins at the 2017 and 2018 Southern California PGA Championship and the 2022 and 2023 Southern California PGA Championship.
