"My friends would make fun of me" - Scottie Scheffler reveals that he wore just one hat as a kid and why he still hangs it up

Scottie Scheffler began his golfing journey at the tender age of three. After years of dedication and a successful amateur career, he has ascended to the coveted position of World No. 1 golfer with 16 victories as a professional.

The PGA Tour recently released a documentary titled 'The Life: Scheffler' on their official YouTube channel, produced by Golf Forever. In one segment, the 28-year-old shared that he would wear the same hat for several seasons, practicing with it until it was worn out. In the same documentary, his father, Scott Scheffler, said that Scottie used to adore wearing the same hat every day for four years during his high school days.

Here's what Scottie said,

"I would find a hat I liked, and I would just wear it all the time. So I would just sweat through the hat, and I would do that summer after summer and just wearing the same hat to tournaments. Maybe, it's hereditary. ... My friends would make fun of me because the hat would look terrible, but I didn't really want to think about what I had to wear in the mornings, I just wanted to go to the golf course."

The 2024 Augusta Masters winner keeps the caps he's used on display in his home gym, saying that seeing them reminds him of all the hard work he's put in on the course.

"I thought about just hanging them up in the gym as a little reminded of all the hours that I put in on the golf course. There's a lot of things I'd rather be doing than being back there by myself working out and lifting weights and putting them down and I'd rather be hanging out with my wife and son. I hang them just as a little bit of a reminder of the work that it took to get there and so that I'll continue to put in that work on the other side," he added.
