Brooks Koepka has finally shared his opinion on the Netflix documentary series "Full Swing" and his portrayal in it.
Prior to the inaugural event of the second season of the LIV Golf League, Koepka took a few questions from the fans on his team Smash GC's Instagram page.
He was asked about his thoughts on his episode in the docuseries. According to him, the episode didn't tell the whole story.
Koepka said:
"Interesting. Obviously, you know, when you do something like that, it never shows the full picture of what's going on. A lot of that stuff is done not even a year after surgery. So there's still a lot."
He added:
"It was a lot of stuff going on just between trying to figure out my body, the proprioception where I was at, and if you're not healthy and can move the way you want to move, it's tough to swing it properly. So just a lot of frustration, a lot of stuff wasn't seen, but it is what it is."
The episode explores Koepka's struggles with form and injury. Brooks is struggling to come to terms with the reality that he isn't as good as he was a few years ago. Koepka struggled with a knee injury in 2019.
At the time, he was having a great run where he won four majors in less than three years while also reaching the World No. 1. However, since his return, he hasn't been able to keep up with his form.
Koepka is seen saying in one scene:
“I’m going to be honest with you, I can’t compete with these guys week in and week out.”
The episode didn't cover Koepka's plans to join the Saudi-backed league, which he eventually did last June. He's only seen laughing sinisterly when a producer asks him if he's thought about it.
Brooks Koepka Profile
In the last few years, Brooks Koepka has experienced both great success and disappointment. He achieved his first major win at the US Open in 2017, followed by winning the PGA Championship the following year and successfully defending his US Open title.
After winning both the PGA Championship and US Open in the same year, Brooks Koepka joined Tiger Woods as only the second player to achieve this feat. He then defended his PGA Championship title the following year, during which time he also held the No. 1 position for 47 weeks.
Towards the end of 2019, Brooks Koepka sustained a knee injury and was troubled by various other injuries for most of 2020. However, he made a comeback of sorts in 2021, with a victory at the WM Phoenix Open and a tied runner-up position at the PGA Championships.
In June 2022, he made the announcement that he would be joining LIV Golf. Although his form in the LIV Golf wasn't impressive initially, he finally tasted success in the final event of the season last year, the LIV Golf Invitational-Jeddah.
He tied for 46th at the PIF Saudi International and failed to make the cut in the International Series Oman this year. He will be looking to change his fortune with LIV's second season, which starts on Friday.
