Jessica Korda became a mother in February 2024 as her son Grayson came into the world on February 3rd. She had revealed in August 2023 that she was expecting the birth of her first child.
Korda recently appeared on the former PGA Tour pro Smylie Kaufman's podcast and talked about her experience as a new mom.
Kauffman asked Korda about her experience of being a boy mom and asked if he had crossed 10 months.
"Almost. Yeah, a couple more weeks and we're 10 months. Still not sleeping through the night. So if he makes it to 10 months, it's going to be 10 months of no sleep. But we're powering through."
He then asked the LPGA Tour pro about her reasons for naming her child Grayson. To which Korda said she doesn't know many people with that name.
"We just really like the name. It was different. I don't know too many of them. Everyone always says that you realize how many people you don't like when you're trying to name a kid. And so you're just like, okay, well, I actually don't know any Grayson, so this is perfect," Korda said.
Kaufman then revealed his experience of parenting and said he was lucky in the sleep department as his daughter slept well through the night.
"We've been super lucky on the sleeping front from that. I think she gets that from dad though. Dad sleeps through the night pretty good," Kauffman said.
"It's okay. We're powering through. We got this," Jessica Korda said with a smile.
When did Jessica Korda last compete on the LPGA Tour?
Jessica Korda last competed on the LPGA Tour in May 2023 at the Cognizant Founders Cup. She stepped away from the game after that to rehab lingering injuries and then announced that she was expecting to become a mother in February 2024.
She first competed on the LPGA Tour in 2011 and has registered six wins and made around $7.6 million as official earnings. The 31-year-old's best season on the LPGA Tour came in 2014 when she registered two wins along with six top-10 finishes.
However, the eldest Korda sister has not registered a win since the start of 2021, as her last victory came at the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions in 2021.
Her younger sister, Nelly Korda, on the other hand, has dominated women's golf, especially this year, with seven wins in a single season in 2024. She also won the Rolex Player of the Year award, where Jessica was present to see her younger sister receive the prestigious honor.
