The 2023 Masters Tournament is just around the corner and fans are excited to see some of their favorite golfers from both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf feature in the first major event of the season.
While most of the top golfers will be teeing off on April 6 at Augusta National, there are 15 ex-Masters champions who will be missing the tournament.
Former Masters Champions who will not be seen in the 87th edition of the Championship
1) Tommy Aaron
Aaron won The Masters in 1973 by beating J.C. Snead by a single-stroke margin.
2) Jack Burke Jr.
Jack Burke Jr. claimed The Masters in a 1956 win over Ken Venturi by a one-stroke difference.
3) Angel Cabrera
The 2009 Masters was Cabrera's second major of his career in which he triumphed in a sudden-death playoff against Chad Campbell and Kenny Perry. The Argentine player hasn't been invited to Augusta National as he's serving jail time for harassing his former partner.
4) Charles Coody
Coody won the Championship in 1971, defeating Johnny Miller and Jack Nicklaus by two strokes. The former PGA Tour professional is another player not to feature in this year's edition due to age.
5) Ben Crenshaw
1984 United States Ben Crenshaw has won the green jacket twice in his career. He achieved it first in 1984 by beating Tom Watson and then against Davis Love III in 1995.
6) Nick Faldo
Sir Nick Faldo has triumphed at Augusta National thrice. His first Masters win came in 1989, followed by a title defense in 1990. The 1996 Masters was Faldo's last major victory, which he won by beating Greg Norman by a five-stroke margin.
7) Raymond Floyd
Raymond Floyd won the Championship in 1976, beating Ben Crenshaw by an eight-stroke margin.
8) Trevor Immelman
Immelman won The Masters by defeating Tiger Woods in 2008. However, he remained winless for five years after that and as a result, lost his five-year exemption in 2013 and was forced to play on the Web.com Tour. He later retired due to his struggles with injuries and form.
9) Jack Nicklaus
Nicklaus is the winningest player at the Augusta National with six titles (1963, 1965, 1966,1975, and 1986). Nicklaus retired in 2005.
10) Mark O'Meara
Mark O'Meara won the tournament in 1998 beating Fred Couples and David Duval by one stroke. Since 2007, he's been playing on the senior tour.
11) Gary Player
Gary Player won The Masters Tournament thrice, in 1961, 1974, and 1978.
12) Craig Stadler
Craig Stadler triumphed over Dan Pohl in a playoff at the 1982 Masters.
13) Tom Watson
Tom Watson beat Jack Nicklaus in 1977 to win his first Masters Tournament. His second success at Augusta National came in 1981.
14) Ian Woosnam
The Welsh golfer won his sole major at the Augusta National in 1991 against Spanish José María Olazábal.
15) Fuzzy Zoeller
Fuzzy Zoeller beat Ed Sneed and Tom Watson at the 1979 Masters in the playoffs.
When is the 2023 Masters Tournament?
The 2023 Masters Tournament will take place from April 6 to April 9 at Augusta National.
