2023 Masters weather update: Big chance of heavy rainfall at Augusta

The Masters - Preview Day 3
Augusta National Golf Club - The Masters - Preview Day 3

The 2023 Masters not only has controversies around it, but the weather seems to spoil the play as well. The weather forecast for Saturday, April 8, is quite upsetting for fans.

According to weather forecast channels, Augusta National Golf Club can experience heavy rainfall on Saturday and Sunday. There are possibilities for thunderstorms too.

Forecasts suggest that Georgia might experience a 24 percent chance of rain on Thursday, followed by 80 percent on Friday. Meanwhile, the rain probability shoots up to 93 percent on Saturday.

This is the first time in the last four decades that the weather seems to spoil the play of rich men's sport. The last time the Masters experienced rain was in 1983 and before that in 1973.

Since 1973, all the years ending with three have experienced bad weather. Be it 1983, 1993, or 2003, all have had a day or two suspended due to bad weather. In 2013, the rain did try to spoil the game at Augusta National, but fortunately, no round was affected.

Now it would be interesting to see if the weather gods show some mercy on golf or if there will be another Monday finish in the history of the Masters.
