Tony Finau has claimed the top spot in the PGA Tour power rankings for the 2024 BMW Championship. The second event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs is scheduled to take place from Thursday, August 22 to Sunday, August 25, at Castle Pines Golf Club in Denver, Colorado.

The BMW Championship will feature the top 50 players in the FedEx Cup standings. Despite being 14th in the standings, Finau has edged past leaders Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele in the power rankings for the upcoming tournament.

Here’s a look at the power rankings for the 2024 BMW Championship:

Tony Finau is surrpisingly at the top of the PGA Tour rankings for the BMW Championship. Despite being winless this season so far, he has had several good results this year. He has missed only cut in last 12 starts and has registered five top-16 finishes in last five starts.

2) Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele is once again among the favorites this week given his remarkable consistency every week. Last week, he fired 7-under 63 in the final round to finish as runner-up at Memphis.

A win at the Castle Pines will strengthen Schauffele's case for the PGA Tour Player of the Year.

3) Scottie Scheffler

The World No. 1 golfer has been on incredible run this season and the FedEx Cup win will be fitting finish of the year he has had.

4) Hideki Matsuyama

The last two weeks have been quite dramatic for Hideki Matsuyama. On his way back from the Paris Olympics, his team suffered a robbery, resulting in his caddie and coach returning to Japan to sort out their documents.

Despite this setback, Matsuyama went on to win the FedEx St. Jude Championship with a new caddie and now has a solid chance to win the Playoffs.

5) Viktor Hovland

Last year, Viktor Hovland made a remarkable comeback at the BMW Championship and went on to win the Tour Championship.

This time, Hovland entered the Playoffs with only one top-10 finish since then. However, his T2 finish last week in Memphis likely boosted his confidence ahead of his title defense at Castle Pines Golf Club.
