Day 1 of the 2024 BMW Championship ended with Keegan Bradley in the lead. The 38-year-old carded a 6-under 66 on Thursday, August 22, at Castle Pines Golf Club to beat last week's FedEx St.Jude Championship winner Hideki Matsuyama to the top.
The newly appointed US Ryder Cup captain finished his round with a one-stroke advantage as showers and thunderstorms caused a delay for the later-finishing tee times. He was the last man to get in the 50-man field for the $20 million competition.
Round 2 of the BMW Championship will begin at 9:25 am ET on Friday, August 23, with Alex Noren and Eric Cole on the first tee. The pairing of Adam Scott and Adam Hadwin will follow suit at 9:35 am, while Stephan Jaeger and Matt Fitzpatrick follow them at 9:45 am.
Round 1 leader Bradley will continue the campaign at 1:40 pm on Friday, taking the last tee of the day. Cam Davis will join him on tee no.1. The group will follow the pairing of Patrick Cantlay and Sungjae Im, teeing off at 1:30 pm. Meanwhile, event favorites and Players of the Year competition leaders Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele will tee off together at 1:20 pm.
It is pertinent to note that the BMW Championship, the second last event on the regular 2024 PGA Tour schedule, doesn’t have the traditional 36-hole Friday cut. Only the top 30 players on the FedEx points list after the ongoing tournament will proceed to the final Tour Championship next weekend.
