The 2024 BMW PGA Championship is set to tee off on Thursday, September 19 at the Wentworth Club. The DP World Tour’s flagship event will see a stacked field compete for the $9,000,000 prize purse. The tournament winner will bag an impressive $1,575,000.

Ryan Fox won the BMW PGA Championship last season, beating English duo Aaron Rai and Tyrrell Hatton. He also edged out last year’s Masters champion Jon Rahm and FedExCup winner Viktor Hovland to take victory at the Virginia Water course. The Aussie golfer returns this weekend to defend his title but is far from the favorite to win.

World No.3 Rory McIlroy is the highest-ranked player on the BMW PGA Championship field. Interestingly, he is also the outright favorite to win. The Irishman edges out nine of the 12 European Ryder Cup winners from 2023 to lead the odds table with 11-2 odds, according to the DP World Tour.

Coming off a solo second-place finish in his home Irish Open, the four-time major champion will be eyeing victory at Wentworth. For the unversed, the four-time major champion teed off Wednesday’s BMW PGA Championship Celebrity Pro-Am alongside Soccer star Gareth Bale.

McIlroy is followed by Tommy Fleetwood on the DP World Tour odds table with 10/1 odds. Having finished 20th at the Tour Championship, the Englishman is favored to have a favorable run this weekend. Adam Scott with 12-1 and Shane Lowry with 14-1 are two other names in the competition’s top-4 list, according to the European Tour.

It is pertinent to note that LIV converts Hatton and Rahm won’t participate in the European competition as they partake in the breakaway league’s Team Championship in Dallas. However, last edition’s runner-up Aaron Rai will return this weekend and has 16-1 odds.
