The Irish Open, which is currently sponsored by Amgen, has been a tournament on the DP World Tour for 68 editions. It began in 1927 and has remained a key part of the golf schedule since then with only a few breaks.
It has quite a few former champions, some of which will be in the field for it this weekend and could become repeat winners.

The 2024 Amgen Irish Open is the first edition of the event with Amgen as the sponsor. It has had many different sponsors over the years such as Horizon, Murphy's, or Carroll's, but it's always been the same tournament since its inception.

The defending champion is Vincent Norrman. The Swedish golfer shot 14 under par, which was enough to defeat Hurly Long by a single stroke. The year before that, Adrian Meronk, who is now with LIV Golf, won by three strokes. His -20 was well clear of Ryan Fox.
In 2021, Lucas Herbert, also with LIV Golf now, shot -19. That was three strokes ahead of Rikard Karlberg. John Catlin won the year before that after shooting -10. Aaron Rai came in second by two shots.
In 2019, eventual Major champion Jon Rahm took home the trophy. He shot 16 under par and defeated both Andy Sullivan and Bernd Wiesberger by two strokes. 2018's trophy was handed to Russell Knox after shooting -14. He won following a playoff against Ryan Fox on the 18th hole.
Rahm won in 2017 as well. The Spaniard shot -24 and left everyone in the dust. Richie Ramsay and Matthew Southgate were closest, but they were six back of the lead.
The victor in 2016 was Rory McIlroy. The four-time Major winner shot 12 under, which was three strokes up on Knox and Bradley Dredge. The year before, Soren Kjeldsen shot two under and had to endure a playoff with Eddie Pepperrell and Wiesberger on the 18th hole.
Finally, in 2014, the winner was Mikko Ilonen. He shot -13 to Edoardo Molinari's 12-under scoreline to take home the trophy.
