2024 Korn Ferry Tour Championship: Top players in contention to earn a PGA Tour card ft. Karl Vilips (Imagn)

The Korn Ferry Tour Championship is here, which means it's the final opportunity for players, who have a chance to earn their 2025 PGA Tour card, to earn points. Based on the points list, 17 players have already secured their spots, while 13 other placements are up for grabs. In total, the top 30 are granted membership to the PGA Tour for next season.

Following those 17 players, who have already secured their Tour card for 2025, the next five ranked players on the points list have a little bit of breathing room. This gives them a good chance of making it and not needing an incredible outing to do so. They are: Karl Vilips (973 points), John Pak (959), Jackson Suber (940), Mason Andersen (921), and Jeremy Paul (920).

Kris Ventura, Ricky Castillo, Danny Walker, Noah Goodwin, Aldrich Potgieter, Kaito Onishi, Trevor Cone, and Sam Bennett are the following players who are in the bubble, in a sense.

Just outside that bubble is the 31st-ranked player Trent Phillips, who is behind Bennett by 43 points. Phillips would need a top-23 placement to surpass him. Number 32 Trey Winstead is back 62 points and would need a top-14 finish.

The 40th-ranked player is Pontus Nyholm and he trails by so much that he would need a top-three finish to move in. Everyone ranked 59th or lower has to get a win in order to move into the top 30.

Matt McCarty, Max McGreevy, Tim Widing, Steven Fisk, Frankie Capan III, Taylor Dickson, Harry Higgs, William Mouw, Brian Campbell, Thomas Rosenmueller, Ryan Gerard, Cristobal Del Solar, Quade Cummins, Kevin Roy, Kevin Velo, Paul Peterson, and Isaiah Salinda are the 17 who have already secured their 2025 memberships.

They will still play and can move up and down on the list, but they can't move so far down that they won't be granted their tour membership card for next season.

The course for the tournament is the Pete Dye Course at French Lick, Indiana. The purse available for this tournament is $1.5 million, so golfers will be competing for their Tour memberships, as well as a fairly substantial payday.

The golf course for the Korn Ferry Tour Championship will be a par-72 this week. It is 7,667 yards. The final few holes, which make up a potentially climactic finish to rounds, include a 220-yard par-3 16th, 465-yard par-4 17th, and 626-yard par-5 18th to wrap things up.
