2024 LIV Golf Promotions format breakdown: All you need to know

The 2024 LIV Golf Promotions will take place from 12-14 December. This is the fall season qualifying tournament for the LIV golf league where players from across the world will participate to earn full status on the 2025 LIV Golf roster.

Along with these players, the golfers who are in the drop zone in the 2024 LIV Golf standings will also play in this qualifying tournament to find their way back into the league. Four such golfers who're under threat of relegation after finishing in the 2024 LIV Golf drop zone and will play in the LIV Golf Promotions event are Kalle Samooja from Cleeks GC, Branden Grace from Stinger GC, Kieran Vincent from Legion XIII, and Scott Vincent from Iron Heads GC.

Ahead of the event, LIV Golf shared a video of the tournament format on X (formerly Twitter).

Four rounds of 18-hole stroke play will be played over three days, with 64 golfers starting on day one. Following that, the top 20, and ties, will go on to the second round. On the second day, scores will be reset as the top 20 and ties will be joined by players who are exempt into round two.

Finally, after the second round, scores will be reset and only twenty golfers will advance to the third day after the tiebreakers are over. A 36-hole shootout will take place on the third day. A playoff will be played if needed to determine the ultimate winner.

Only the top golfer at the top of the LIV Golf Promotions leaderboard will get a ticket to play in the 2025 LIV league.
