Angel Hidalgo carded four birdies and three bogeys in the final round of the Open de España. He reached the 72nd hole with a one-stroke lead over Jon Rahm, but missed a 4-foot putt for birdie and had to face Rahm on a playoff.
Both Rahm and Hidalgo birdied the first playoff hole. The eventual champion repeated the feat on the second, but his rival could only manage par, giving Hidalgo the win.
Hidalgo became the 20th Spaniard to win the Open de España. He joins the likes of Jon Rahm, Seve Ballesteros, Sergio Garcia, Miguel Angel Jimenez, and Rafa Cabrera-Bello, among others.
