The PGA Tour’s FedExCup Fall schedule resumes with the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship this week. The event is set to begin at the Country Club of Jackson on Thursday, October 3. The competition, which could be the last of its name as the Mississippi event looks out for new title sponsors, features some regular names on the American circuit.
The Sanderson Farms Championship will feature some new names as well, in addition to Rickie Fowler, Keith Mitchell, Mackenzie Hughes, and Maverick McNealy. Notably, the event underwent a Monday open qualifier at Deerfield Golf Club in Canton, which saw four golfers earn their way into the field.
2024 Sanderson Farms Championship Monday qualifiers
Listed below are the four Monday qualifiers for the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship:
#1 Ryan Hall
Hall earned low-medalist honors with a 10-under 62 to win by two over Beck Burnette (64) at the Deerfield Golf Club in Canton. The 24-year-old golfer from Knoxville, Tennessee, carded 10 birdies in a bogey-free round on Monday, including three in a row to finish.
Notably, his last PGA Tour start came at the RBC Canadian Open in 2023 where he Monday qualified but missed the cut. Having finished 110th on the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour Points List, Hall will be eyeing to make the best of his shot at the PGA Tour’s FedExCup Fall event.
#2 Beck Burnette
PGA Tour Americas pro-Beck Burnette recorded an 8-under 64 round at Deerfield GC on Monday to earn his maiden PGA Tour start. Having made nine starts on PGA Americas and making two cuts, the 23-year-old Blairsville, Georgia native will be eyeing a big debut on the circuit.
It is pertinent to note that Burnette transferred to Georgia following a four-year career at Lee University. In 2023, he earned Ping First Team All-American honors.
#3 Caleb Hicks
Hicks is another golfer who earned his first PGA Tour start on Monday. The 24-year-old from Arlington, Texas fired a 7-under 65 to seal his place on the Sanderson Farms Championship field. The University of Texas-Arlington alum teed up five times on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2024. However, he made his only cut at the Veritex Bank Championship and finished T80.
#4 Charlie Flynn
Flynn survived a playoff at the Deerfield GC on Monday. The 24-year-old carded a 6-under 66 and managed a 2-for-1 against Dawson Armstrong to advance via the playoff. The Alexandria, Louisiana native bagged the fourth Monday qualifier spot in his first-ever PGA Tour Monday qualifier.
Notably, the golfer showed promise as he carded five birdies and an eagle offset by one bogey in his 66 round. It’ll be interesting to see if he replicates the form on the Sanderson Farms Championship field this weekend.
