2024 Solheim Cup sees 657,000 viewers as Nelly Korda, Charley Hull shine

The 2024 Solheim Cup saw team USA finally claim victory over team Europe with a score of 15.5 to 12.5. The three-day event was one of the most entertaining weekend for fans, and it showed through the high viewership numbers.

Charley Hull and Nelly Korda's head-to-head singles match was one of the highlights of the Solheim Cup. Other notable golfers included the likes of Rose Zhang, Anna Nordqvist and Georgia Hall.

According to Josh Carpenter, the Solheim Cup saw a viewership of 657,000. This number is more than double of last year and better than the 2021 edition of the event by around 100,000.

"Solheim Cup viewership from Sunday: 657,000 on NBC. Last year in Spain: 277,000 on Golf Channel (earlier coverage window). Three years ago at Inverness: 588,000 on Golf Channel (finished on Labor Day Monday)."

Zhang's impressive wins record at the 2024 edition saw her become only the second American player to finish with a record of 4-0-0. Speaking about her performance, Rose Zhang said via Golf Week:

“I just feel like the Solheim Cup reignited my passion for the game and it was so fun to see so many people out here supporting. My teammates have been incredible.”

US Team captain Stacy Lewis spoke about taking victory at the Solheim Cup with her teammates. Speaking via the LPGA Tour, she said:

“From the moment this team was together, they were together. I'm just so proud of them. I'm proud that they get this moment where they get to celebrate tonight and win this Cup.”

This was team USA's first victory in seven years.

European team captain Suzann Pettersen said that she did not have any regrets about the loss, or the team that she put together. Speaking to BBC, Pettersen said:

"I've never lived my life regretting any decisions. Sometimes you get it right, sometimes you get outplayed. Maybe we could have played other players that maybe could have faced different opponents that could have changed the outcome. You can always look back, but at the same time I don't think we, as a team, have any regrets of what we did. We tried our best."

Several of the team members including Nelly Korda and Charley Hull will be playing at the upcoming Kroger Queen City Championship.
