2024 US Amateur Golf Championship: Format, top players, schedule and more explored

The 2024 US Amateur tees off on Monday, August 12. It will be played at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota, along with co-host Chaska Town Course. The field, which consists of 312 amateur golfers, will play the 36 holes of stroke play in the first round, following which the top 64 continue on to match play on Wednesday.

In 2023, eventual PGA Tour player Nick Dunlap topped Neal Shipley by a score of 4 and 3 at Cherry Hills Country Club in Colorado. In doing so, Dunlap joined Tiger Woods as the only other player to win a US Junior Amateur and Amateur. Here's what you need to know about the event.

The US Amateur will have one of the biggest fields in golf, exceeding 300 players. Among those players are golf wunderkind Miles Russell, Jaden Soong, and Sohan Patel. Soong at 14 is the youngest player in the field.
