The 2024 Wyndham Championship is set to tee off on Thursday, August 8 at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. The final regular event on the PGA Tour 2024 schedule saw four golfers enter the field via Monday qualifiers.
The Wyndham Championship, held immediately after the Olympics men’s golf outing, sees a 156-player field competing for the $7,900,000 prize purse and valuable FedEx Cup points. George Kneiser, Cooper Musselman, Martin Trainer and Henrik Norlander made it to the final field for the 37th event of the PGA Tour season via Monday’s qualifiers.
The golfers entered the event, which fields 21 of the top 50 Official World Golf Ranking players among the top contenders, dramatically as the qualifiers ended with an 8-for-2 playoff at Bermuda Run Country Club.
2024 Wyndham Championship Monday Qualifiers
Listed below are the four Monday qualifiers for the 2024 Wyndham Championship:
#1 George Kneiser
Kneiser finished his Monday qualifier round with a 6-under 65. The 26-year-old golfer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin made his way to his PGA Tour debut this weekend after advancing through a pre-qualifier last weekend. The golfer has 29 starts across the Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Canada and PGA Tour Americas.
#2 Cooper Musselman
University of Kentucky Alma mater Musselman got back on the PGA Tour with a 6-under 65 round on Monday. The 29-year-old golfer closed the qualifier round with three consecutive birdies, to earn his third start of the PGA Tour season. Notably, the golfer with a total of five starts on the American circuit made a second straight successful Monday qualifier after the 3M Open.
Musselman’s best finish on the PGA Tour came at the ISCO Championship this season. The golfer, who finished No. 119 on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour Points List, managed T31 in the competition after entering on a sponsor exemption.
#3 Martin Trainer
Trainer carded a 5-under 66 on Monday to advance to the final Wyndham Championship field via a playoff. The 33-year-old from San Francisco, California made a birdie on the first hole of an 8-for-2 playoff to qualify. Trainer is set to make his 147th start on the PGA Tour this weekend.
It is pertinent to note that he has made 40 cuts on the circuit throughout his career. Having finished runner-up at this year’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside Chad Ramey this season, the 2019 Puerto Rico Open winner will be eyeing a big comeback in North Carolina this weekend.
#4 Henrik Norlander
Norlander is the last of the four to qualify for the Wyndham Championship on Monday. The Swedish golfer carded a 5-under 66 and advanced via playoff. The 37-year-old veteran secured a spot in the competition to make his 175th start on the PGA Tour. It is pertinent to note that he enters the event at No. 128 on the FedExCup Playoffs list.
Despite making 101 cuts on the PGA Tour, Norlander is yet to win an event. He has made five prior appearances at the Wyndham with the best result coming in 2013, when he finished T16.
Notably, the Wyndham Championship is the final PGA Tour regular season event golfers can compete to make the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings. Players like Brian Harman, Sungjae Im, Jordan Spieth and Shane Lowry, among others, headline the field.
