Tommy Fleetwood on developing his mindset before the 2025 Dubai Desert Classic
The 2024 season was nothing short of exceptional for Tommy Fleetwood. Not only did Fleetwood win the Dubai Invitational last year, but he also finished in the top 10 of the World Rankings.
Before the Englishman could step on the course at the Emirates Golf Club, he spoke about the need to develop a winning mindset. Fleetwood also talked about how important it is to be consistent and mentioned that fellow European Rory McIlroy is someone he looks up to. He said (via Sky Sports):
"Yeah, it's tough to win. You can look at any number of things that would produce more wins but I think, you know, ultimately, trying to stay as consistent as possible, put myself in those positions as much as possible. I think one of the greatest winners of my generation, well, if not the greatest, is Rory (McIlroy).
Rory puts himself in those situations all the time and wins plenty as a result of it. I love looking at the best players and the consistency levels that they have and I know that you look at somebody like Scottie Scheffler and the season he had, which is ridiculously phenomenal, of course it is."
No golfer has won the Dubai Desert Classic the number of times the Irish golfer McIlroy has.
