Bernhard Langer has bid his final goodbye to the DP World Tour. Langer's last tournament on the European Tour was the ongoing 2024 BMW International Open, which is being held at Golfclub München Eichenried, Munich, Germany.

Langer failed to make the cut in his last tournament on the DP World Tour. He scored 1-under 71 in the first round with two birdies and a bogey and needed to improve on his performance to make the cut. In the second round, he scored 1-over 73 with two bogeys and a lone birdie at the BMW International Open. He missed the cut by three shots.

Talking about how he felt about it being his last tournament on the DP World Tour, Langer said (via DP World Tour):

"It's hard to put into words. It's kind of been a dream come true for me, you know, growing up in a village of 800 people where nobody knew what golf was, period. When I told my classmates I'm gonna go play golf, they thought I'm crazy and they thought I'm a putt-putt golfer, mini golfer and all that."

Langer grew up in Anhausen, Germany. He said that people in his village had no idea about golf and stated that the situation was strange. Langer further said (via Korn Ferry Tour):

"Even when I finished school and I tried to become a golf professional, people didn't even know what that was. It didn't even exist as a profession in a way. So it was very difficult, complicated, but it was my dream. And so, yeah, I was able to live that dream for 50 years, 51 years now, so.

Langer became a pro in 1972 at the age of 15. The BMW International Open was Langer's 513th start on the DP World Tour. The 66-year-old has won 42 of the 513 DP World Tour starts. When he first turned pro, it took him eight years to win his first championship on the DP World Tour with Dunlop Masters.

He joined the PGA Tour in 1985 and won three Tour titles. He joined PGA Tour Champions in 2007 and has won 46 PGA Tour Champions titles.

Langer, who had planned to make the 2024 Masters his final tournament at Augusta National, has postponed his retirement due to an Achilles injury. He now intends to compete in 2025.
