Three back-to-back aces were made on the fourth hole in the third round at the Maybank Championship with Emily Pederson, Kristen Gillman, and Anna Nordqvist carding aces on the fourth hole. The third of four events on the LPGA Tour's second Asian circuit is being played at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Emily Pederson started her round on a strong note with two consecutive birdies on the 2nd and 3rd holes. On the fourth hole, the 28-year-old Danish player employed her 55-degree wedge to score a hole-in-one. Pederson scored three bogeys in the round to finish 1-under 71. She is tied for 38th with an aggregate score of 5 under 211.
Kristen Gillman was the second player to score an ace on the fourth hole. She scored two birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey on par-5 10th to finish the round with an even-par 72. She has an aggregate score of 8-under 208 and is tied at 18th. Her ace shot video on the fourth hole was posted by the LPGA Tour on X.
Anna Nordqvist was the third player to notch an ace on par-3 fourth in the third round at the Maybank Championship. Nordqvist started the round on the back nine and scored a birdie on the 12th against a bogey on the 13th. On the front nine, she started with a hole-in-one on the fourth hole. However, she faltered with two double bogeys on the 5th and 7th holes and a bogey on the 6th hole.
Nordqvist finished the round with 4-over 75 and has an aggregate score of 4-over 220. She is tied for 69th.
Jeeno Thithikul, Haeran Ryu, and Ruoning Yin are on the top of the leaderboard with a score of 16-under at the 2024 Maybank Championship. Thithikul carded 8-under 64 in the round and jumped 8 spots in the leaderboard. She said (via LPGA Tour):
"Today I tried to, you know, keep making birdies, birdies and birdies because you know, like this course is kind of like, you know, really low score for every year. So that's all in my mind, like, trying to, you know, hold the putt."
Maja Stark is positioned fourth with two shots behind.
