Phil Mickelson recently shared his random thoughts with fans on social media. In his post, he praised the Sunday Night Football commentators, Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth. He also complimented the television series Day of the Jackal. In the final part of his musings, he defended Daniel Penny, a Marine veteran accused of murdering Jordan Neely.

Mickelson, a six-time major champion and 45-time winner on the PGA Tour. He is not only one of the most accomplished golfers but is also known for his commentary on various topics through X.

On Sunday, December 8, the $300 million golfer wrote on X:

"Random thoughts. Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth are great in the booth. Day of the Jackal is an incredible show. If a deranged individual threatens to kill you let’s hope there’s a Daniel Penny around."

Tirico and Collinsworth were commenting on the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs for Sunday Night Football. The second thing he spoke about was The Day of the Jackal, a British television show based on the Frederick Forsyth novel of the same name, featuring Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch.

The third "thought" was about Daniel Penny, who choked Jordan Neely to death on a train in New York City last year. This occurred after Neely allegedly threatened passengers on a Manhattan F train, and the Marine veteran restrained him for six minutes until the police arrived.

Later, Penny was charged with negligent homicide and manslaughter. However, this case received a lot of divisive opinions from the public. While many accused him of being a vigilante, several others supported him, calling him a hero.

On Saturday, December 7, Phil Mickelson took to X to defend Daniel Penny's actions.

"Agree. Thank you Daniel for serving your country and for protecting the many passengers whose lives were threatened by this violent and deranged individual," he wrote on X.

In the latest development in the case, Judge Maxwell Wiley dropped the charge of second-degree manslaughter against Penny. This decision was made unanimously by the jury.

Phil Mickelson will not return to action until February when the fourth season of LIV Golf kicks off in Jeddah. The 54-year-old golfer hasn't won a title in more than three years and will be looking to end the drought soon.
