The second round of the WWT Championship 2024 concluded with Nico Echavarria firing a low 9-under 63 to take a joint one-shot lead after 36 holes. He moved up 11 spots on Friday to tie with Max Greyserman, who carded a 64 to reach an aggregate of 12-under.
After the conclusion of the second day’s play at El Cardonal at Diamante, the cutline was set at 2-under, with 69 players making it to the weekend. Chad Ramey, who shot 76 in the opener, carded a 66 to squeeze inside the cutline.
However, not everyone could replicate Ramey's comeback, as some missed the cut at the WWT Championship 2024. In this article, we will look at five notable names who failed to make it to the weekend at El Cardonal.
5 players who missed cut at the WWT Championship 2024
1) Neal Shipley
Neal Shipley shot 4-over 76 in the opening round, which included a triple bogey. He tried his best with a 5-under 67 on Day 2 but still fell one stroke short. This was just his second missed cut on the PGA Tour this season.
2) Patton Kizzire
Procore Championship winner Patton Kizzire missed his second straight cut, falling short by one stroke. He began the week on a high, leading at 4-under after 11 holes, but it took an anticlimactic turn as he shot 72. In the second round, he carded 71 to finish at 1-under.
3) Taylor Moore
Taylor Moore is another player who tried hard on Friday but couldn't make it to the weekend. He shot 74 in the first round of the WWT Championship and desperately needed a low round.
Moore started well, quickly going 5-under for the day after just seven holes. However, the birdies dried up from there, and to add insult to injury, he made back-to-back bogeys on the 15th and 16th holes, missing the cut by one stroke.
4) Pierceson Coody
Pierceson Coody shot 70 in the first round of the WWT Championship, and all he needed was an even-par or lower round. However, he missed the cutline after shooting 73.
Coody made five birdies on Day 2, but four bogeys and a double bogey nullified them.
5) Keith Mitchell
Keith Mitchell shot 75 on Thursday, November 7, followed by a 72 in the second round. This was his third missed cut since tying for third at the Sanderson Farms Championship.
