The PGA Tour Champions qualifying tournament concluded on Friday and after four days of rigorous effort, a handful of golfers qualified by playing 72 holes. Around 78 golfers teed off at TPC Scottsdale’s Champions course and out of the 78 golfers only 5 qualified, including 49-year-old Soren Kjeldsen.
Players who fell short of getting a Tour Champions card for the next season include Angel Cabrera who finished 8th with a score of 12 under and Scott Parel who finished in 13th place with 9 under. Esteban Toledo's 31st-place finish with 3 under and Dicky Pride's tally of 13 under to settle at T6 meant they couldn't qualify as well.
However, five golfers qualified through the PGA Tour Champions qualifying tournament featuring the likes of Brendan Jones and Soren Kjeldsen. Lets take a look at all of them:
#Soren Kjeldsen
Soren Kjeldsen won the PGA Tour Champions qualifying tournament by scoring 24 under and an eight-stroke margin helped him en route to victory. Kjeldsen primarily played on the DP World Tour in 2024 and had four missed cutlines in his last five starts.
His best finish of the 2024 season was at a T27 at the Genesis Championship in October, where he scored 7 under 281. A month later, he recorded a T33 finish at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters with 3 under 285.
#Freddie Jacobson
Freddie Jacobson was the second-place finisher in the qualifying tournament and he was eight shots behind Kjeldsen at 16 under. Before this, Jacobson played the 2024 Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS, where he finished at T10 with a score of 8 under 208. The Swede golfer carded 66, 74, and 68 over the rounds in the tournament. Before 2024, he last played in 2020, when he had a missed cutline at the Puerto Rico Open at the Grand Reserve Country Club.
#Mark Walker
Mark Walker tied for third place at the PGA Tour Champions qualifying tournament with a score of 14 under. Walker played at the U.S. Senior Open Championship at the Newport Country Club in 2024, but he missed the cutline with a 7 over 147 score.
Earlier this year, he made birdie on the first playoff hole and won his first Arizona Senior Open Championship. In 2023, he played at the Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS at the Timuquana Country Club and he finished at T64 with a score of 7 over 223.
#Felipe Aguilar
Felipe Aguilar was the second player to tie in third place with 14 under at the qualifying tournament. He played at the Astara Chile Classic by Scotiabank in 2024 where he finished at T57 with a score of 6 under 282.
A year prior, he played at the BMW International Open and the ISPS Handa World Invitational, finishing at T69 and missing the cutline with scores of 5 over 293 and 11 over 152, respectively. In 2023, Aguilar also played at the Korn Ferry Tour and finished at T36 at the Astara Chile Classic with 12 under 276.
#Brendan Jones
Brendan Jones was the third and final golfer who tied for third place at the qualifying tournament and received the 2025 tour card. Jones played on the PGA Tour in 2019. That year, he participated in the PGA Championship at Bethpage State Park and missed the cutline in the tournament after scoring 15 over 155 after two rounds.
Before that, Jones played on the PGA Tour in 2017, when he missed the cutline at the Fiji International with a score of 3 over 147.
