The 2024 Olympics women's golf event is set to take place from Wednesday, August 7, to Saturday, August 10, at Le Golf National in Paris, France. This is the third consecutive time and fourth overall that golf is part of the Olympics.

Similar to the men's event last week, the Olympics women's golf event will also feature 60 players in action at the Le Golf National. The field will feature top names like Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu, Jin Young Ko, and Lydia Ko. However, a few notable names are missing from the field after failing to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.

In this article, we will look at the five big names missing from the 2024 Olympics women's golf event.

1) Ally Ewing

Ally Ewing missed a Paris Olympics 2024 berth by the narrowest margin. Had the US sent the four players to Paris, she would have been on the flight but the US decided to pick only three players.

Ewing has six top-10s this season including a runner-up finish at the DOW Championship.


2) Haeran Ryu

While three Koreans are set to compete at the Le Golf National, Haeran Ryu has missed out after being fourth-best in her country.

Ryu has had a fantastic season so far and has registered eight top-10s this year.


3) Alison Lee

American Alison Lee will also miss the Paris Olympics 2024. She has made four top-10s this season.


4) Lexi Thompson

Lexi Thompson of the USA is playing her final season but she will not be able to compete at the Paris Olympics in her last year as a professional.

Thompson was part of the 2016 and 2020 Olympics where she finished 17th and 33rd, respectively.


5) Mone Inami

Japan's Mone Inami, the Tokyo silver medalist, will not compete this time as she was nowhere near the top 60 of the OGR. She is currently ranked 116th in the world.

During the Tokyo Olympics 2020, Inami aggregated at 16-under to win the silver medal.
