Top 5 sleeper picks for the 2024 Olympics men’s golf competition

#1 Guido Migliozzi (Italy)

With the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele in the field, it will be an uphill task for Guido Migliozzi to win the 2024 Olympics. However, the thing that gives him an edge is his victory at Le Golf National in 2022. At the Cazoo Open de France, he won by one shot over Rasmus Højgaard.

Further, he has three top-10 finishes and eight top-25 finishes this year in 17 starts on the DP World Tour. He recently won the KLM Open in playoffs against Joe Dean and Marcus Kinhult by birdie on the second extra hole.

Guido Migliozzi finished at T32 at the competition and his odds of +8000 confirm his underdog status at the Paris Olympics.

#2 Thomas Detry (Belgium)

Another player who is well-versed with the course at Le Golf National is Thomas Detry. He has three top-25 finishes during the annual DP World Tour events with his best performance of T8 in 2019.

Detry has three top-5 finishes this year with his best performance of T2 at the Texas Children's Houston Open. At Tokyo, he tied for the 22nd position and has odds of +750 to finish in the top 5 at the men's golf competition at the Paris Olympics.

#3 Thorbjørn Olesen (Denmark)

Thorbjørn Olesen has +400 odds to finish in the top 10 at the 2024 Olympics. Though he has had a dismal 2024 season, he has a terrific record at Le Golf National.

Olesen has two top-10 finishes and one top-20 finish at the course in the FedEx Open de France. He also scored a point for the home team in the 2018 Ryder Cup.

#4 Matti Schmid (Germany)

The next sleeper pick in the list is Matti Schmid with odds of +220 to finish in the top 20 at the 2024 Olympics. This will be his first Olympics.

The German has had two top-10 finishes and eight top-25 finishes so far in the 2024 season. His best finish came at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, where he tied for the fourth position. The 26-year-old comes from a T12 finish at the 3M Open 2024.

This will be the third Olympics for Ryan Fox. In the Tokyo Olympics, he finished tied at 42nd position. He has teed at Le Golf National five times and has made three cuts at the course.
