The Genesis Scottish Open 2024 concluded on Sunday, July 14, with Robert MacIntyre shooting 18-under for the week to claim his second PGA Tour title. He carded a 3-under 67 in the final round to trump Adam Scott by a one-shot margin.
The 2024 Genesis Scottish Open featured a star-studded field with many top-ranked players in action at the Renaissance Club. While most of them lived up to their reputations and had a good week, a few names fell short and didn't meet fans' expectations.
Here's a look at five players who underperformed at the Genesis Scottish Open
Five players who were underwhelming at the Genesis Scottish Open 2024
1) Viktor Hovland

Viktor Hovland entered the Renaissance Club as one of the favorites but ended up having a mediocre week. Over the four days, he shot 67, 69, 68, and 69 to aggregate at 7-under. He finished at T46 seven strokes behind the winner.
2) Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood is another name who was expected to have a good week. He was +2200 for the win at Renaissance Club but tied for 34th after aggregating at 9-under. He was in the top 20 after 54 holes but shot 71 in the final round to slip 16 spots.
3) Min Woo Lee

Min Woo Lee was +2500 to win the Genesis Scottish Open 2024 and had a steady start with 67 in the first round. However, he ended up aggregating at 2-over after shooting 70,70 and 75 in the next three rounds. He finished second from the bottom among the ones who made the cut.
4) Hideki Matsuyama

Among all the top names, Hideki Matsuyama arguably had the worst week. Despite starting at +3000 odds at Renaissance Club, he failed to make it to the weekend. After a rough start with a first-round score of 71, his second-round 67 wasn't sufficient as he missed the cut by just one stroke.
5) Justin Thomas

It was unimaginable that Justin Thomas would finish T62 after firing a stunning 8-under 62 to lead after the first round at Renaissance Club. However, what followed was anticlimactic as it turned out to be his only below-par round of the week.
Thomas carded 72, 71, and 71 over the next three days to finish at 4-under overall. He slipped 14 spots on Sunday.
