The PGA Tour 2024 season saw Scottie Scheffler have one of the best seasons ever by any player in history. He won seven titles, including major events like the Masters Tournament, the Players Championship, and the FedEx Cup. Alongside him, Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy remained consistent performers.

While the top players continued their dominance, several underdogs outperformed expectations and surprised the oddsmakers. In this article, we’ll take a look at five underrated PGA Tour performances from the 2024 season.

Chris Kirk's win at the Sentry 2024 came out of nowhere as many experts hadn't predicted him to win the first event of the season.

Kirk entered the tournament with +13000 odds compared to Scheffler who was the tournament favorite at +550. However, his consistent play in all four rounds helped him register a shot win over Sahith Theegala.

2) Grayson Murray (Sony Open in Hawaii)

A week after Kirk's win at Sentry, Grayson Murray became another underdog to win on the PGA Tour. He was playing his first event after earning the PGA Tour card and wasn't anywhere near the favorites. He was +40,000 for the week but started the tournament with first-round 69.

In the second round, Murray fired 63 and then shot 64 and 67 to aggregate at 17-under. He faced Byeong Hun An in the playoff but claimed the title with a birdie on the extra hole. This was his second win on the PGA Tour and first in seven years.

3) Nick Dunlap (American Express)

The underrated performances continued for the third tournament of the season, as amateur Nick Dunlap surprised everyone by winning the American Express. Dunlap entered La Quinta with +30,000 odds and wasn’t remotely the favorite to lift the title.

The 20-year-old amateur set the tone of the week with a first-round 64 and then fired a 65 on Day 2. His third-round 60 helped him surge to the top, and he finished at 28-under after a final-round 70 to beat Christiaan Bezuidenhout by one shot.

4) Stephan Jaeger (Texas Children's Houston Open)

Stephan Jaeger entered the tournament with +5000 odds but had to face the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Wyndham Clark, and other top professionals. Besides, Scheffler was on a hot streak, having won two of his previous starts.

Scheffler appeared to be cruising to victory, holding the lead after 54 holes. However, Jaeger tied him after three rounds. In the final round, the German golfer shot 67, while Scheffler missed a birdie putt that would have forced a playoff.

5) Taylor Pendrith (CJ Cup Byron Nelson)

Taylor Pendrith entered the CJ Cup Byron Nelson with +9000 odds and was far from being one of the tournament favorites. He came into the event after missing five of his past seven cuts. However, Pendrith fired rounds of 64, 67, 63, and 67 to finish at 23-under, beating Ben Kohles by one stroke to claim his first-ever PGA Tour title.
