On Friday, January 3, popular golf influencer Fat Perez was present at Kapalua, Hawaii, for the Sentry 2025. He also had a candid chat with Andy North during the PGA Tour's coverage, where he spoke about his golf YouTube journey and other things.
Nick Stubbe, also known as Fat Perez, has over 512K subscribers on his Instagram account, where he regularly posts videos. Besides, he is part of the YouTube channel Bob Does Sports, alongside Robby Berger and Joseph Demare.
On Friday, the PGA Tour took to X to post the conversation between Andy North and Perez. The two-time US Open winner starts the interview by asking about Perez's journey.
"A lot of luck, a lot of perseverance, a lot of scrolling on Instagram and connections took me out of the cubicle and now we're out here in Maui. What a world," he replied.
Perez then praised Kapalua's Plantation Course in the follow-up question.
"This golf course is incredible," he added. "I mean, you see the elevation on TV, you see the slopes and things after watching these for years and years and years. But until you get out here and really stand out here, it is incredible, this land. I don't know how somebody thought, let's build a golf course on this, but they did a hell of a job."
During the chat, Perez also spoke about his love for basketball, his Eurostep celebration, and his experience playing in the Pro-Am. When asked about his favorite for the Sentry 2025, he chose Xander Schauffele.
"Give me Xander," Perez replied. "He loves this golf course. He's got one of the best golf swings in the world and Scottie is at home, so everybody's got a chance."
