Golf influencer Hailey Rae Ostrom has encountered a scary situation and shared a video on her social media handle to warn people about fake internet profiles. She shared a video about the frightening incident on her X (formerly Twitter) account.

Ostrom revealed that a man contacted her and narrated an incident where he claimed to have sent around $50,000 to a social media user pretending to be Ostrom. The social media influencer explained that the man visited her house and informed her about the situation. However, realizing that someone could get her address and reach her home was terrifying for her. She asked her parents to call the cops to handle the situation.

"He was able to get my address by abusing his job at his work and finding all of my information," Hailey Rae Ostrom said. "It turns out he’s been messaging a fake Hailey Ostrom page thinking that it was me and sending them $50,000. He was obviously mad when that person stopped messaging him and so he figured out a way to get to me and came to my home."
"I was very scared and had even texted my parents during this interaction, telling them to send cops to my house right away. He did not make any threats and he did eventually leave on his own free will. But as you can imagine, I don’t know his intentions and because some of the situations that have happened in my past with some followers I was very skeptical and scared and not going to take any risk,” Hailey Rae Ostrom added.

Moreover, Ostrom sent a message to her followers, urging them not to fall into such traps of fake accounts and asking them to respect her privacy.

"There are 100s of fake pages of me alone and I report them daily but unfortunately a lot of these platforms do not do a good job of taking them down. I never want to feel scared or feel like my privacy was taken away ever again. So I am taking the necessary precautions to make sure that I am even safer in my own home. I really appreciate all of my followers who respect my privacy and don’t do anything crazy like that."

Hailey Rae Ostrom is quite active on social media and enjoys around 927,000 followers on Instagram, where she posts golf-related content.

Like Hailey Rae Ostrom, Paige Spiranac and LPGA Tour professional Nelly Korda also shared posts earlier this month spreading awareness to their fans about staying safe from fake profiles and internet accounts.

Social media sensation Spiranac shared a post on her X (formerly Twitter) account on January 7, asking the platform to start "prioritizing" the removal of "impersonation accounts." She opened up about the fake accounts on social media, writing:

"I really hope platforms start to prioritize getting rid of impersonation accounts. It’s wild how many fake accounts there are of me and how many unsafe situations it has caused me and others. I know it’s a real problem for so many."

Likewise, LPGA Tour player Korda shared a post on her Instagram account on January 11, asking people to be aware of fake accounts. She expressed concern over the increasing number of fake profiles on the internet. In her post, she mentioned her original social media account and shared the post along with the caption saying:

"Hey everyone - I’ve unfortunately seen a huge rise in fake accounts posing as me. Please know I will never ask for money or do any direct fan outreach from my accounts. Thank you for all your support, and I can’t wait to get the 2025 season going."

Like Hailey Rae Ostrom, Nelly Korda is also very active on Instagram. She boasts around a million followers on the platform.
