A glider makes an emergency landing on the golf course in Scottsdale

The pilot of a small aircraft/glider had to make an emergency landing at a north Scottsdale golf course on Thursday.

Capt. David Folio, Scottsdale Fire Department spokesperson, informed the Arizona Republic that the plane landed on a fairway at the Estancia Club with its wheels, and the pilot, who was the only person on board, was unharmed in an emergency landing.

Fox reported that the landing was not too far away from Scottsdale airport. A certain golfer saw the glider landing while he was playing at Estancia Golf club around 12:30 pm (EST). The aircraft model is STIM ES 12.

Russ Hustead, a certified flight instructor and owner of Sky King Soaring, tried to reflect on the incident while speaking to Fox News:

"We depend on air currents to keep us up, but there's also occurrence that go downward, which we call sink. And it's possible that he got caught in the sinking air and couldn't escape, so he chose the golf courses as a safe place to land.

"(Pilot) did a really excellent job, not hurting anybody on the ground and not hurting himself."
