Henrik Stenson is hopeful that the PGA Tour and LIV Golf will coexist in peace one day so that golf can become a 'little less hostile'.

Stenson was axed from the Ryder Cup captaincy duties immediately after joining the Saudi-backed league last year.

Rory McIlroy, meanwhile, has been vocal against LIV in the PGA Tour battle against the Saudi-backed league. Last week, however, he gave a statement that the PGA Tour was benefitting from the existence of LIV.

Stenson welcomed Rory's admission and now hopes for an improvement in relations between the two groups.

"I hope for everyone involved that we can end up in a place where everyone can co-exist and it'd be a little bit less hostile than it has been as of late," Stenson was quoted by AFP.

The PGA Tour recently announced the introduction of no-cut events from the 2024 season with a 70-80 player field. These events will have more money and fans will be able to see their favorite golfers on all four days.

Another former Ryder Cup star and Stenson's fellow LIV pro, Ian Poulter, said that there was a place for both tours on the calendar.

"That is always the bigger picture and the way we see LIV playing is as an addition to the game of golf," said Poulter, who will next be teeing up at Asian Tour’s Hong Kong World City Championship later this month."I love the format. I love the creativity."

He said that they were being acknowledged by fans and people now and LIV is here to stay.

Stenson added that some people like the change while others don't.

"It's been some rocky times, but I think it's all kind of coming together and we'll see where we end up in a year or two," added Stenson.
