Lexi Thompson concluded her professional golf career on the LPGA Tour yesterday at the CME Group Tour Championship. She announced earlier this year that this would be her final season.
After concluding her play at the CME Group Tour Championship, she spoke about her feelings at the end of the round, in a post-round press conference. She said,
"Yeah, it was very emotional. Really wasn't until I got to No. 9 for some reason. Kind of all hit me."

She added,
"Yeah, it's just always a special week regardless if it was my last tournament as a full-time schedule or not. I always have so much family and friends and the fans are unbelievable here."
Thompson said this tournament is always like a hometown event, and she will cherish the memories forever. She said,
"It's kind of a hometown event being from Florida so always held a special place in my heart. Yeah, it's a memory that I'll always cherish forever, always coming here. It's not the game that I wanted to play, but there is more important things."
Unfortunately for her, she had a poor finish to the CME Group Tour Championship as she carded +2 for the day, remained -2 for the event, and finished the event at T49.
