Winning the 2013 Masters Tournament is undoubtedly the highlight of Adam Scott's career. Recently, the Australian recalled the final moments of that tournament and the role his caddie played in his victory.

Adam Scott spoke about the subject while appearing as a guest on 'The Golfer's Journal' podcast. According to Scott, it was his caddie, the legendary Steve Williams, who gave him the key to the putt that won him the playoff against Angel Cabrera.

This is how Adam Scott narrated the incident [22:12 and onwards]:

"It just had that sense of like 'it's now or maybe never' and we're reading the putt and Steve [Williams] was having a good look, and... this is before I did any aim point and I said 'I think it breaks a cup' and he said 'it breaks two cups', and that's a pretty big call and he always said everything very forthright, very confident. He said 'it breaks two cups' and I said 'are you absolutely sure? Have you seen this putt before? Because this is a big one'"

He added:

"He said 'look, this breaks more than you're reading it. I think it breaks two cups' and so I went with that read, if it wasn't two cups it might have been like a cup and cup and 5-8, it was out there, way more like twice as much break as I read, and I hit the putt and I knew it was a good putt as soon as I hit it."

Prior to working with Adam Scott, Steve Williams carried Tiger Woods' bag, among others. Williams was with Woods for 13 of his 15 major championship wins, including three Masters Tournament victories.

The 2013 edition was Scott's 12th appearance in the Masters Tournament. Up to that point, he had three top-10 finishes, including a tie for second in 2011, with only two missed cuts.

Scott shot a first-round 69 to tie for 10th place, three shots behind first-round leaders Sergio Garcia and Marc Leishman. A day later, Scott carded a second-round 72 to move into a share of seventh place, three shots behind new leader and fellow countryman Jason Day.

On Moving Day, Scott matched his first-day score of 69 to move into third place, just one stroke behind leaders Angel Cabrera and Brandt Snedeker. He then carded another 69 in the fourth round to force a playoff with Cabrera.

Sudden death was extended to two holes. After both players parred the first hole, Scott birdied the second to win the tournament, his first (and only so far) major championship.
