Paige Spiranac revisited the topic of her golf handicap, but this time in a more lighthearted way,as she compared herself to Donald Trump. It all started a few days ago when Paige Spiranac posted about her current handicap. Her post generated a lot of discussion on X, which included some exchanges from Spiranac with several users.

Alluding to this, the 31-year-old posted a video clip from the last presidential debate in which former President Donald Trump could be seen claiming that President Joe Biden couldn't even send the golf ball 50 yards away. She accompanied the post with the following text:

"Me defending my handicap yesterday"

On Thursday, former President Donald Trump and current U.S. President Joe Biden held a presidential debate ahead of next November's election. During the debate, both politicians made several references to their respective golf skills.

President Biden assured that his handicap was 6, which made former President Trump laugh:

“Never, I’ve seen your swing,” Trump replied (via Flushing It).

Both Trump and Biden are very fond of golf. According to Golf Digest, Trump has a handicap of 2.5, while Biden's is 6.7.

Previously, Spiranac posted on X that her handicap was +3.4 and used a reference to Tiger Woods to illustrate how it showed her level. Specifically, Spiranac said that Woods' handicap was once calculated at +9, which she called "insane".

Paige Spiranac and her golf handicap controversy

Paige Spiranac stated at the beginning of the current season that one of her goals for the year was to keep track of her handicap. Her claim that her current handicap is +3.4 has caused a lot of debate, especially in X.

The controversy stemmed from the fact that many fans were not fully aware of how the handicap system worked and thought that +3.4 was a poor record, when in fact it showed a very high level for an amateur.

Several users even commented on Paige Spiranac's level in a mocking or derogatory manner, not realizing the mistake they were making. The former professional player herself replied to several of these posts.

Later, the 31-year-old posted again to give a general explanation of what a +3.4 handicap meant. She explained that it was a very good handicap for an amateur, but not good enough to be successful on a professional tour.

The handicap is the system created to measure the quality of golfers and is mostly used by amateurs. It allows players of different levels to play on equal terms. The so-called "regular" handicap is the one assigned to most players. In this case, the lower the number, the higher the quality of the player.

Players with a handicap of 0 are called scratch golfers and belong to the highest level of amateurs. But there are also players with a plus handicap (as in the case of Paige Spiranac).

The level of these players is marked with a + sign, which means they can play with scores under par. Most professionals do not keep track of their handicap. However, it is generally accepted that to be successful on the professional tour, you need to have a handicap of +6 or better.
