Alexa Saldana tied for ninth after the first round of MountainView Collegiate

Alexa Saldana tied for ninth after the first round of the MountainView Collegiate on Friday. She holed three birdies and a single bogey in her round.

Beginning at No.10 on the par-72, 6,352-yard MountainView Golf Club course, Saldana birdied the par-4 12th hole. She was flawless in her game barring the 14th hole, which returned her to an even par. A birdie on the 18th made sure she was back under par. Her final birdie came on the front nine.

With the help of Alexa Saldana's impressive performances, the Cougars were able to card a score of 291, finishing in 15th place.

TCU led the table after the first round with a score of 9-under 276, followed by San Jose State, which was behind by a three-stroke margin.

Iowa State and Ohio State were placed at T-3 at 8-under 280 followed by Tulsa (3-under 285), UNLV (2-under 286), New Mexico(UNM) (1-under 287), Arkansas (287), North Texas (288), Nebraska (289) and North Carolina (1-under 289) are among the Top-11 leaders.

UNM was led by Maria Caparros Levin, who carded a first round of 2-under 70, positioning herself at a T-9th spot on the individual leaderboard.

Natalie Saint-Germain posted a 71 to tie for 18th. She holed two straight birdies on Nos. 14-15 to but drained two back-to-back bogeys later in the round on Nos. 3-4. She ended her round with a birdie on the penultimate hole. Freshman Moa Svedenskiold ended her Day 1 at T-57 with a score of 74.

Lauren Lehigh also had a solid round, finishing at 1-under 71. Jenny Lertsadwattana scored an even par 72, while Lisa-Marie Pagliano posted an opening round of 74. Annie Saechueng finished the lineup with a score of 81.
