Megan Khang is a coffee enthusiast. The 26-year-old golfer has even admitted to being part of a group text chat with LPGA stars Nelly and Jessica Korda to find the best coffee at different tournaments. However, the American star has said that her love for coffee had humble beginnings.
On Wednesday, Khang said that she doesn’t drink anything other than Coolatta from Dunkin’ Donuts. While discussing her Dunkin’ order, the golfer spilt the beans on her love for coffee. Surprisingly, she said that her ‘introduction to coffee’ was at Dunkin’. She described her OG drink as a “French vanilla extra, extra mocha swirl.”
She admitted to it being odd and said “all the coffee people” would look at her with “disgust.” The 2023 CPKC Women's Open winner added that she’s now ‘matured’ and prefers a ‘little flat white on the road.’
Replying to a media query on her go-to Dunkin's order, Megan Khang said at TPC Boston ahead of the FM Championship, as quoted by ASAP Sports:
“I know I'm not getting a Dunkin’ sponsor. I don't drink Dunkin. I'll drink a Coolatta from there. I feel bad. Dunkin was my introduction to coffee. I remember in high school -- oh, gosh, all the coffee people are going to look at me with like disgust. Used to be like a French vanilla extra, extra mocha swirl. I look back on it and you and drank and got like a full mouthful of sugar.
"It was pretty much a cup of cream with a splash of coffee back then. Nowadays I've matured, I've grown up, and now I like a little flat white on the road. When I am home, I'm making my own coffee at home right now.”
Megan Khang’s coffee dates with the Korda sisters
It isn’t the first time Megan Khang has talked about her coffee interest. Last year, the golfer was part of several social media stories from Jessica and Nelly Korda where the trio went out for cups of coffee. The trio became LPGA Tour’s unofficial coffee shop hoppers after they admitted to having a group chat for the very purpose.
According to a Golf Monthly report, the trio’s coffee shop trips started in 2020. Khang, a coffee enthusiast since high school, joined the Korda sisters while on the road and between practice rounds. They reportedly researched coffee shops to visit during all tournaments together.
According to the report, the group even had over five LPGA stars at one time, with Patty Tavatanakit and Alison Lee joining in. Megan Khang said about the group’s coffee trips, as quoted by GolfMonthly:
“It’s a nice little escape. We can just joke around about things other than golf, talk about things that aren't just golf. We go to these coffee shops, and we'll sit down, and we'll just shoot the sh--.”
It's pertinent to note that Megan Khang never gatekept any of the coffee places she visited. Being a coffee shop aficionado, the golfer’s extensive knowledge on the subject is freely available in a comprehensive reel highlight on her Instagram profile.
