Amanda Balionis raises $3,541 for her “game plan”, asking fans for donations in heartwarming cause

Golf journalist Amanda Balionis has come forward to help the communities and shelters affected by Hurricane Helene and raised more than $3,500 in donations. The fast-moving tropical cyclone caused widespread destruction in the Southeastern United States in mid-September.

Amanda Balionis, founder of "Puppies and Golf," a charitable organization dedicated to the welfare of animals, shared a post on her Instagram on Thursday, detailing how fans can contribute to this noble cause. She included links in her Instagram story through which people can make donations and asked people to join her in collecting funds.

Speaking about the initiative, Balionis said:

"Our team has been working literally around the clock to come up with a game plan to help shelters and communities so deeply impacted by Hurricane Helene and we are ready to get fundraising efforts going."

She further shared the detailed plans and how her organization will help people. The journalist added:

"We have targeted five different shelters in three different areas spanning North Carolina, Tennessee and Augusta Georgia. We have not forgotten about you ... But we have shelters that have completely demolished, we have shelters that have been flooded by sewage, we have shelters that have lost every single one of their dry items."

"So we are doing a financial fundraiser for $10,000. We have found a couple of really generous donors to match that 10,000 for a total of $20,000 and then we also have created wishlists for the shelters that are in desperate need of really specific items," she added.

People have already begun making their donations, and so far, she has collected around $3,541.80.
